How To Turn JavaScript On or Off: Internet Explorer 7

To enable or disable JavaScript in Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), or to check it's status, simply follow these steps.....

1: Open IE7 and click Tools from the main menu, then click the Internet Options menu item.

2: The Internet Options dialogue box should now be visible. Click the Security tab, then click the Internet icon. Find the Custom Level... button and click it.

The Security Settings dialogue box should now be visible. Using the scroll bar on the right hand side, scroll down to the Scripting heading. Just under it you will see the Active Scripting heading with 3 choices.

  • To turn on (enable) JavaScript, select Enable from the Active Scripting heading.
  • To turn off (disable) JavaScript, select Disable from the Active Scripting heading.
  • To be prompted everytime a webpage attempts to use JavaScript (not recommended), select Prompt from the Active Scripting heading.

3: When you have finished altering settings, click OK to the Security Settings dialogue box, then click OK to the Internet Options dialogue box. You may need to restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect (recommended).
